Pipework is essential to keep your bathroom running smoothly. While some people might not mind the appearance of pipes, others will gasp at the sight of exposed pipework surrounding your bathroom.

Most new houses benefit from built-in plumbing. However, if your house is fairly old then chances are your bathroom pipes are visible.

If exposed plumbing pipes are not your vibe, there are a number of ways to hide your plumbing. How to hide your bathroom pipes will depend on your bathroom, your budget, how much time you have, and ultimately, your own personal preference.

Whether you are looking to undergo a renovation project, or you are searching for a quick fix for hiding exposed pipes, we have listed 7 ideas for how to hide your bathroom pipes.

7 Ideas For Hiding Pipes In Bathrooms

1. Remodel Your Bathroom

If you are building your new bathroom from scratch then you have the advantage of having your pipework built in. This option is not the quickest of solutions however if you have time on your hands and the budget to manage this project, why not go ahead?

If you are in the middle of planning a renovation and want to hide your existing pipework, enquire with your builder about having fake walls built to conceal your plumbing.

You will need to factor in the cost of materials and labour, and also the timeframe you are working with. Consider the size of your bathroom, as a fake wall will take up space.

2. Add New Bathroom Furniture

Don’t worry if a full bathroom remodel isn’t an option, furniture is an effective way to hide bathroom plumbing.

Pedestal basins are designed to hide pipes under the bathroom sink. With a sleek and elegant design, pedestal basins efficiently remove your waste pipes from sight and perfectly compliment a minimalist bathroom.

If additional storage space is your priority, then a vanity unit would be the perfect addition to your bathroom. Your pipework will be concealed and you can match your vanity unit to the colour scheme of your suite.

We have a wide range of bathroom cabinets to hide pipes. Whether you prefer doors or drawers, our vanity units are available in varying sizes, colours, and styles to suit all preferences.

Hiding your toilet plumbing can be done with a WC Unit. This option is suitable for back to wall toilets as your concealed cistern will be hidden inside of the unit. To ensure your bathroom design matches your WC unit, we suggest choosing a WC unit from the same range as your vanity unit.

3.Box In Your Bathroom Pipes

If your bathroom pipes run horizontally along your skirting boards, you have the opportunity for a DIY project. Boxing in your pipes is an easy and effective way to keep your plumbing neatly tucked away.

How To Box In Pipes In Bathrooms

If your bathroom pipes run horizontally along your skirting boards, you have the opportunity for a DIY project. Boxing in your pipes is an easy and effective way to keep your plumbing neatly tucked away.

  • Plywood
  • Wood battens
  • Tape measure
  • Spirit Level
  • Drill
  • Screws
  • Decorators caulk
  • Saw

Your wooden battens will act as the base structure for boxing in your pipes. Making sure the wood is cut to size (the length of your pipe), this will need to be attached on top of your pipe into the wall, and in front of your pipe into the floor. A spirit level will be your best friend during your DIY project, make sure your wood is straight before drilling in your screws!

The ‘box’ can now be formed with your plywood. Measure up your piece of plywood to the correct height and width and install these to meet in an L-shape. Once securely screwed in, you can fill in any gaps or cracks with a decorators caulk. We recommend painting or tiling your box to match the theme of your bathroom for a neat finish.

4. Paint Your Pipes

If you don’t mind your bathroom pipes being on show but aren’t a fan of the colour, then you can paint these to blend in with your colour scheme. Painting pipes is more cost effective than undergoing a remodel, or buying new furniture to hide your plumbing.

Alternatively, you could always make your plumbing a statement piece by painting your pipes a bold colour. Instead of disguising your pipes, you can fully embrace the industrial aesthetic and add a contemporary twist.

5. Install Pipe Covers

Painting your bathroom pipes isn’t your only option to make your pipes blend in. Take a look at our blog for more helpful guides.
